Mother-of-pearl is not pearl

Mother-of-pearl is the iridescent nacre lining found inside certain shells. It can be cut into beads with a pearl-like sheen, but those beads are not whole freshwater or cultured pearls. Clear wording matters because the materials, appearance, and care are different.

In this design, five shell beads create a soft white focal section between the colored gemstone beads and small gold-plated spacers.

What to know about blue topaz

Topaz is a separate mineral from aquamarine. It has a Mohs hardness of 8 and is often eye-clean when cut for jewelry. Much of the blue topaz sold in modern jewelry begins as colorless topaz and receives accepted irradiation and heat treatment to create stable blue shades.

Hardness does not make jewelry impact-proof. Topaz has cleavage, so protect small faceted beads from hard knocks and do not expose the bracelet to a jeweler's torch or unnecessary high heat.

Fit and styling

Adjust before wearing

The lobster clasp and extender are designed for wrists around 15 to 20 cm.

Wear it alone

The white shell focal beads and aqua color provide enough contrast for a clean solo look.

Layer it lightly

Pair the slim strand with a watch or one fine chain bracelet without crowding the beads.

Care for mixed materials

The safest routine is to remove the bracelet before showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping. Apply perfume and lotion before putting it on. After wear, wipe the shell and metal gently with a clean, soft cloth and store the bracelet separately from harder jewelry that could scratch the nacre.

Do not use abrasive cleaners, steam, or an ultrasonic cleaner on the assembled bracelet. Mixed-material jewelry should be cared for according to its most delicate component, which is the mother-of-pearl shell.

Product FAQ

Are the white beads real pearls?

No. They are mother-of-pearl shell beads with a pearl-like luster. They are not freshwater pearls or cultured pearls.

Is the blue stone aquamarine?

No. This color option uses faceted blue topaz beads. Aquamarine is a different mineral in the beryl family.

How does the bracelet adjust?

It uses a lobster clasp and extender chain designed for an adjustable fit of approximately 15 to 20 cm, or about 5.9 to 7.9 inches.

Can I wear it in the shower?

Remove it before showering, swimming, exercising, or applying perfume. This protects the shell luster, plated metal, and bracelet stringing.
